FAQs

Q:  How do you have a mass said for someone?
A:  Anyone can have a Mass said for someone who is deceased.  You do not need to be a parishioner in order to purchase a Mass card. The Mass stipend is $10.00 per Mass.  Please stop by or call the parish office at: 585-663-5432.

Q:  How do I put something in the bulletin?
A:  Space is limited in our bulletin and preference is always given to Our Mother of Sorrows activities and announcements. Please email any articles in for consideration, preferrably in  Microsoft Word, to the parish office at mos@dor.org at least two weeks prior to the requested bulletin publishing date.

Q:  Do you rent out the parish hall?
A:  No, we are unable to rent out the church hall.  The hall is reserved daily for church events, such as Men’s Club, Ladies’ Guild, and Faith Formation classes.

Q:  How do I arrange for a Baptism at Our Mother of Sorrows?
A:  Please contact the office 2-3 months prior to the Baptism.  Parents will be required to attend a Baptism Preparation Session  and to fill out some simple forms.  Our Baptism Coordinator will get in touch with you and answer any questions.

Q:  How do I schedule my Wedding at Our Mother of Sorrows?
A:  Please contact the parish office for information (585) 663-5432.  Deacon Tom Jewell will contact you within 2-3 days to talk about your wedding date and to discuss the details of preparation.
Q:  How do I go about planning a Funeral Mass:
A:  Most of the details are planned through the Funeral Home of your choice.   Our Funeral Coordinator will then contact you to set up a time to answer all of your questions and review your options for hymns and readings.

Q:  Do you offer volunteer opportunities for service hours?
A:  We are blessed with a very busy and lively parish, and we can always use volunteers.  Please call the office if you have some time to help.
