PRAYER SHAWL MONTHLY MEETING
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The prayer shawl ministry at Our Mother of Sorrows has started meeting again on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 1:00 – 3:00 PM in the church hall. We knit and crochet prayer shawls/lap robes, knitted knockers for breast cancer survivors, and winter wear that is distributed through the food cupboards.
Participants from both parishes are welcome to join us. Interested? Questions? Please call Alice at 227-5879.
The OMOS Prayer Shawl group has been meeting since 2014, but sadly had to suspend our get-togethers during the pandemic lockdown. However, many in our group continued to crochet and knit shawls, lap robes, hats, scarves, etc. Many thanks go to Anne Sawyko who offered to be our chief delivery person of approximately 150 items. Winter wear was distributed at the St. Francis Food Cupboard and dozens of lap robes and shawls were dropped off at various nursing homes in Greece and beyond. Most recently, the Unity Living Center at St. Mary’s gratefully accepted our handiwork for some of their long-term patients on ventilators.
In addition, several ladies have created items to donate to individuals in need of extra comfort, good wishes, and prayers. Since there is always a need for our creations, we are excited that we can now meet together at OMOS to knit, crochet, socialize and pray together. We are most grateful for all the time and talent in our group.
